When we come to this physical
world we are faced with many challenges (understatement of the
year...). Sylvia Browne says in her audio tape "Angels and
Spirit Guides",
that we "check all the boxes." She explains that when
we're on the "Other Side" where it's safe, we're incredibly
brave. In our final decision to come here to the earthly plain, we
choose "challenges" in order to accomplish the growth goals we
set for ourselves. In essence, we "check all the
boxes."
A very dear friend of mine, Terry
Bureau, once wrote in an email, something like this... "The Lord
must have really taken a likin' to me, because He gave me so many
opportunities (through challenges) for personal growth." (At all
costs, maintain your sense of humor...)
Terry and I checked the box, Parry
Romberg's Syndrome [Progressive Hemifacial Atrophy]. You've probably
never heard of it - most doctors haven't. In it's most basic form,
"prs" wastes away the fatty tissue in the body permanently,
leaving the skin stretched over what is left of the skeleton (bone loss
can also be a factor).
If we could target areas where we
want to loose fatty tissue, this might not be such a bad thing, but when
it's in the face, it can be devastating. For the society we live
in revolves around physical beauty. The
lasting aftereffects are overwhelming feelings of isolation and living
proof that "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will
never hurt me" is a blatant lie.
We begin with the stares, then go
to the questions, cruel biting questions, from people who don't care,
but their words act as rusty knives hacking away at our self confidence
and self esteem. I'd love to call it ignorance, but it's
more. It's a lack of compassion for the feelings and well being of
others.
The point in sharing this on the
world wide web is to help each one of us to understand our power as a
bystander. When we see someone who has a facial disfigurement or
some other obvious challenge, bless them. Bless them sincerely
with all the love we have inside us. They will FEEL it. Each
one of us has the power to heal anonymously - use it.
Say a prayer for them, it only
takes a couple of seconds. Before we know it, our blessings and
prayers will be healing our part of the world. Every prayer is heard and
every prayer is answered. We as individuals are not "just one
person," each one of us has an army of Angels with us to do our
bidding to bless and to heal at any given moment... of any given
day. For in reality, we're never alone - We Are A Crowd.
Three things get me through this
world (outside of the obvious - my faith - knowing I'm a crowd), the
first knowing that what I see in the mirror is not what the human eye
sees. Mirrors and photographs are much more critical than the
human eye (this knowledge makes it much easier to go out into the
world).
The second is believing I chose
this challenge. Believing I chose this, does make it easier to
live my life. I wouldn't have chosen this without a good
reason - perhaps it was to put these words together for others through
the internet so one more person would know the true power of their own
healing??
And third, through the internet
I've met some truly wonderful people from all over the world who also
share in this "prs" challenge. As with any
disease/illness that little is known, we share questions, as well as
give each other support. If you or a
family member are experiencing "prs," go to The
Romberg's Connection. You'll find more than support, you'll
find people who are walking in shoes just like yours.
Use your power to heal, become a
catalyst. You and "your crowd" can
make a difference...
